Your Skin Reflects Your Health

Our skin reflects our health. While most of us take the little rashes or itching in our stride, we must realize that these may not just be skin deep. Thus, skin disorders go much beneath the skin's surface. And unhealthy skin can be any indication of a serious connecting health related problem Generalized itching could mean liver or kidney disease apart from a skin disease. Red rashes on butterfly area of face could be SLE while a brown rash in the same area could be an indicator of melasma which is commonly due to hormonal changes during pregnancy Glossitis, stomatitis. Oral ulcers are caused due to Vitamin deficiency common in alcoholics. While smokers tend to have dark lips. Dark circles around eyes can be hereditary trait or lack of sleep or iron deficiency. Regarding diseases of pigmentation, hypo pigmented patches on children's face can be worm infestation or vitamin deficiency. Vitiligo on the other hand could be associated with thyroid diseases. Pale skin means anemia and dry skin could be due to thyroid. Generalized darkening of skin is seen in Addison's disease and darkening of folds occurs due to obesity and diabetes mellitus.
Instead of spending money on expensive beauty products to help you look rested, brighter and more youthful however most of the skin care products contain harmful chemicals that can certainly damage your skin in long run of usage. So, it is always better for you to go natural as far as skin care is concerned. Why not take a trip to your local supermarket? A wholesome diet filled with certain hydrating fruits, vegetables, essential fats whole grains and lean protein is a better way to get bright eyes, clear skin and stronger and shinier hair and nails.

For example: Orange vegetables such as carrots, squash and sweet potatoes, and dark greens vegetables such as broccoli, spinach and kale are rich in vitamin A. Vitamin A is important for growth, development and maintenance of healthy skin and teeth. It also keeps the immune system functioning properly. Try having one orange or green vegetable with dinner each night to reap the benefits.
Water: Water is essential to help keep your body hydrated. Try to drink eight glasses of water a day......you skin will thank you!
